He was certainly working in the civil service during WWII and was in an office at Rhyl in Wales. By this time his marriage was over and after the war he married again and set up home in Wales and he started a chicken farm (according to his son). I think he was still a civil servant as well. During his life he ran quite a few enterprises on the side. My Mum said she got roped into jam making at about 13 years old and was not best pleased at being told to leave school and do the work. He eventually walked out on his first family leaving them with nothing so my Mum & her brother Paul had to go into service to get a roof over their heads.
