Difficilt to pin down. I do not think he had a commission, though he was a seaman and did go to Q Coy. He appears to have been in the Merchant Navy as Alfred John Arthur.

1915 Jul 23. Local paper give him as RN and having left the island
This is his MIC (proven by seaman cards with dob)
1920 Jun 10 New Zealand Police Gazette. A seaman, from Channel Islands, fined £1 for being drunk and disorderly at Lyttleton
1921 Jul 11. Accepted in Ireland. Joined ADRIC with service no 2113 Posted to Q Coy. The RIC register says "ex-army officer", but I can find no trace of a commission
1922 Jan 14 Discharged at demobilization of ADRIC
He appears to have died before 15 Sep 1928
