Sub Lt Alfred Thomas Bennett Taylor RNR

1897 Nov 11. Born London (on RAF record it has Calcutta, however the GRO has a birth in Oct/Dec 1897 in London, and Merchant Navy record gives London). I suspect that his father was Dan Rolyat (Taylor spelt backward - a music hall star who led a chequered life. Dan Rolyat  was born Alfred Herbert Taylor in Birmingham on 11th November 1872. He apparently married 3 times. His first marriage was to Florence Smithson and his second in 1915 to Constance Wadsworth. Ancestry tree ) As far as I can see Dan Rolyat (under whatever name) never married Florence Worth. The birth cert might throw some light on who the parents were.

1913 At "Mersey" a White Star line Cadet. His mother is ""rs B Rolyat"

1914 Oct 1. Commissioned Midshipman in RNR. Acting Sub. Lt
