I cannot get him in further censuses. His army details show commission in Manchester Regt, moving to Notts & Derby then attached Norfolk Regt
1891 census at 210, Arlington Road, St Pancras, London. If born Oct 1884, then should only be 6 in this census. So not him. The other option is a William G Smyth aged 6 at St Vincent Orphanage Roman Catholic, Teignmouth Road, Tormoham, Torquay, but no place of birth is given. On balance this is a very probable candidate
