Major Harry Kemp Robinson MC

A difficult man to find. I don't think he was born Harry Kemp Robinson or probably more likely born in India

1879 Jan 20 Born ( RIC) Middlesex

In his WW1 enlistment he says he served 18 years with West Yorks Regt, leaving at his own request

1910 Jun 22. Joins Freemasons Lodge in Murree, India. He is aged 34 and a Sgt (Light of the Himilayas Lodge was mainly soldiers)

1912 Mar 30. Married in Meerut, Bengal, India to Ida Werdecker. His father is "H K Robinson". Our man is a "manager"

1915 Jan 16 Enlisted in Londonderry, Ireland. He was a caterer

1915 Nov 27 Promoted Lt

1916 Oct 31. Relinquishes the acting rank of Capt

1917 Dec 11. Promoted Acting Captain.

1917 Jan 23 With C Coy 10 Bnas CO Maj Kemp-Robinson.

1918 Jul 26. Lt Harry Kemp-Robinson, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Special Reserve; MC London Gazette "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was in command of a section of tanks, which were instrumental in checking the enemy and causing many casualties. In spite of heavy shell and machine gun fire, he moved about on foot between his tanks directing them and pointing out targets. He showed a splendid example of determination and courage."

1920 Dec 15. Joined ADRIC with service no 1265. Posted to G Coy . It is odd that with his age and being a Major, that he does not appear to have been an officer in ADRIC

1922 Jan 19 Discharged on demobilisation of ADRIC

1921 Nov 10. Tank Corps. . Appointed Major in Reserve of Officers with seniority 20 Sep 1920.

1923 Apr 28 Leaves UK for Port Said, In the large group of reinforcements for Palestine Gendarmerie with only 2 ex-ADRIC men

1926 Feb 26, Arrives in UK from Palestine. Travels 2nd class, is a Gendarme from Palestine.

1926 Mar 19 Attends a British Legion Meeting in Bridport

1928 Oct 17 Died Lochaber, Scotland. and is buried in Kilmonivaig Churchyard.

1929 Jan 20. Gazetted as too old for recall in Reserve of Officers.

1939 Register. His wife is a widowed Housekeeper at "Atners Tower" Stockbridge , Romsey and Stockbridge R.D., Hampshire,

1947 Nov 15. Austrians seek his wife

1954 Ida Kemp Robinson died Hastings Sussex
