1885 Mar 20 Born Liverpool.. Hhis father Simon was a Seaman, who had a master;s certificate. He died 7 Jul 1889 in San Francisco

1891 census His father was already dead

1908 Oct 22. Board of Trade Cert 1st Mate.

1911 Jan 24. Board of Trade Cert. Master

1914 Dec 1 - 1915 May 20. He was the Master of the Kedah, sailing UK to China and back

1915 Jun 24 Commissioned Sub-Lt RNR. The record does not give a next of kin, but says his address in Nov 1914 was in Isle of Man (but he is not in 1911 IOM census). So I cannot link him to a definite Liverpool birth and any censuses.
