1925 Jul 14. 2nd mate on SS Tyalgum . Made by Lithgows Limited Shipbuilders in Scotland for the North Coast Steam Navigation Co Ltd in 1925. During the course of the 'Tyalgum's' short life (1925-1939), for example, she suffered severe damage after ploughing into the Pyrmont Bridge in Sydney, 1932; stoved in her side after a collision with the 'Abersea' in 1934 and struck bad weather at Tweed Heads in 1939, which subsequently led to the vessel becoming unsalvageable.
